Woolgrowers are encouraged to visit www.nmap.com.au, or call 1800 221 076, to check that their mulesing contractor has been accredited by the National Mulesing Assurance Program (NMAP). By using accredited contractors you demonstrate your commitment to the wool industry and good animal welfare practices. NMAP Secretariat representative Charlie de Fegely says it is easy to check details of accredited contractors, and woolgrowers should support those contractors who have taken the steps to become accredited. "As an industry, we've agreed that while alternatives to surgical mulesing are being developed, a best-practice mulesing technique would be supported," Mr de Fegely says. "We've got good numbers of people accredited across the entire country and woolgrowers need to ask the question when booking their contractor." ú More information: For training and accreditation enquiries contact NMAP, 1800 221 076, www.nmap.com.au; to register your interest in a workshop in your area visit www.kondinin.com.au Check mulesing accreditation Gudair® for lifetime protection against OJD Protects against long-term economic loss User Safety Information: Care should be taken to avoid accidental self-injection as severe injury may result.
