Using 17.5 micron Merino wool, TECHMERINOTM is a fusion of the best attributes of Merino wool with the most sophisticated wool processing and finishing techniques. The result is a breathable water-resistant fabric that adapts to the ambient temperature and is quick drying. Innovation in TECHMERINOTM tailoring debuts with TECHMERINOTM WASH & GO suiting, which is domestically machine washable while maintaining the same performance with a natural casual fit. Since the launch of the first edition six years ago, The Wool Lab continues to be a global success and an important tool for the fashion industry, including brands, retailers, manufacturers, spinners, weavers and the media. Each edition now generates about 10,000 swatch requests from the textile trade. The Wool Lab has proven to be an extremely popular exhibit at the trade show stands of AWI’s subsidiary, The Woolmark Company. Each season, an increasing number of brands and designers look forward to seeing the latest offering as it provides the opportunity for them to explore an actual sourcing guide for commercially available products. It is a key way for The Woolmark Company to engage with supply chain partners, targeting the premium end of the apparel and interior markets to stimulate the demand for Australian wool. The Wool Lab guide for Autumn/Winter 2018/19 was launched in June 2017 at the Pitti Uomo trade show in June. Seven fashion- oriented themes were presented. In addition, The Wool Lab Sport and The Wool Lab Denim returned this season, with each of the popular books updated to include the latest innovations and technical fabrics. The Wool Lab is also released in a preview format for spinners and weavers three months prior to the release of the main The Wool Lab book. A magazine of The Wool Lab Preview is also made available for purchase for a broader audience.
