Photographs by Quentin de Briey light NEW EXTENDS RETAIL SEASON AROUND THE WORLD COOL WOOL COMFORTABLY COOL IN BRITISH VOGUE British Vogue has presented a special 16-page feature devoted to commercially available Cool Wool apparel. BELOW Pages from the February Spring/Summer 2015 catwalk edition of British Vogue promoting Cool Wool. British Vogue is looking forward to the northern hemisphere’s warmer months of spring/summer 2015 by including a special feature on Cool Wool in its February catwalk edition. The lightweight, commercially available Merino wool garments featured in the magazine spreads and video have been created by some of the top British and international designers and brands, including Victoria Beckham, Vivienne Westwood, Giorgio Armani, Rahul Mishra, Richard James, E Tautz, Christopher Raeburn, Lou Dalton and Pringle. This promotion is an example of AWI continuing to take its collaborations with designers to the next vital stage, from product through to consumer promotion. Shot in Majorca by acclaimed photographer Quentin de Briey, the Cool Wool garments embody a sophisticated simplicity. Mixing women’s and men’s styles, they are a demonstration of Merino wool's versatility. The natural properties of Merino wool are further enhanced not only by the designers’ clever cut and construction, but more so by the lightweight fabrics which technical advancements have brought. “The breathable fibres of Merino wool offer unparalleled comfort throughout the seasons, keeping you cool come those summer months when only ‘easy’ will do,” advises Vogue. “Simplicity is key – but keeping your look simple means making no less of a statement,” explains Vogue. “This season, designers have looked to Cool Wool to master creations that will let you mirror this laissez-faire attitude... it’s not enough just to look good, one has to feel good, and with Merino wool fibres it’s a balance that is achieved every time.” • AWI’s Cool Wool campaign has seen some of the world’s most influential fashion designers introduce Merino wool into their spring/summer collections, with a variety of lightweight fabric pieces and superfine knits. • The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the trans-seasonal nature of Merino wool and extend the retail season for wool apparel, thereby increasing the demand for Australian Merino wool. • The concept of Cool Wool is not new. First launched in the 1980s, it was given a breath of new life by AWI in 2012, modifying the original specifications of Cool Wool fabrics and yarns to make them even lighter and more relevant to today’s market needs.
